The Health Care Financing Administration Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) is a coding system that describes physician and nonphysician services and supplies. It is used by the Medicare and Medicaid programs in their claims processing systemsto screen billed services. The index, the codes, and decriptors are updated once a year.
