摘要

The ability to predict reservoir heterogeneity in fluvial-deltaic sandstones may critically limit the amount of natural gas that can be produced from established reservoirs along the Texas Gulf Coast. This project is quantifying sandstone heterogeneity in outcrops of seaward- and landward-stepping units of the fluvial-deltaic Ferron Sandstone of east-central Utah. Field work is combined with petrologic, petrophysical, and pore network models in order to develop a predictive approach for defining the geometric distribution of reservoir properties. The expected long-term benefit of this study to the gas industry is a predictive tool that can be used to increase incremental gas reserves from established fields in a more cost-efficient manner.
