Advanced Surfaces for Vertical Tube Absorbers. Final Report, April 1990-September 1992

The phase of the project has devised a detailed computer model for the complex heat and mass transfer process. The model was then confirmed with extensive experimental data. The report now contains all the data needed for a design guide for vertical tube absorbers with a variety of tube geometries. In the future, the method will be extended to horizontal tube absorbers. Heat transfer design was revolutionized earlier in this century by the comprehensive design guidelines of Kays and London's. It is hoped that, when completed, the design guidelines from the work will lead to the same improvements in the design of combined heat and mass exchangers, an essential element in the development of absorption cooling systems.
