Community Demonstration Grant Projects for Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment of Homeless Individuals. Volume 3. Innovative Strategies for Treating Alcohol and Drug Abuse Problems among Homeless Men and Women

The treatment interventions funded in the community demonstration grant program represented a mix of treatment approaches targeted in a variety of subpopulations of homeless persons with alcohol or other problems: older single men, women with children, native Americans and persons with co-occurring substance abuse and mental health problems. The report is one of the series of reports generated by the national evaluation of the Community Demonstration Program. The purpose of the evaluation was to document the lessons learned in implementing interventions for the homeless and its effectiveness. The volume describes what was considered the most innovative feature for certain projects. The objective was to get the nuts and bolts description of these components to get a clear picture of the intervention and to facilitate replication.
