摘要

The Department of Labor Women's Bureau held twenty roundtable discussions andfour public hearings in 1991 and 1992. More than 500 midlife women--defined as those between the ages of 25 and 54--shared personal experiences, joining the testimony of public and private training program representatives, educators, government officials and business representatives. The report does not necessarily represent the views of all midlife women or the conclusions or policy directions of the Women's Bureau, Department of Labor. The testimony summarized here adds a first-person and a front-line perspective on the employment and training needs of midlife women. It indicates that such women lack both access to information on education and job training as well as adequate support services to make training and work feasible.
