Integrated Chemical Plants at the Pulp Mill. Part 1. Processes

The goal of the work is to present the technologies and processes of theintegrated chemical plants at the pulp mill. This review is based on the existing integrated chemical plants at the Richard's Bay Pulp Mill of Mondi Paper Company Ltd. in South Africa. There is included chloralkali, sodium chlorate, chlorine dioxide, hydrochloric acid, sodium hypochlorite and sulphur dioxide plants with auxiliaries. The main raw materials are raw salt, sulphuric acid and sulphur. The principal overall plant process block diagram and process descriptions with flowsheets of the subprocesses are shown.
