摘要

The Institute of Medicine (IOM) of the National Academy of Sciences undertook areview of the possible adverse events following vaccination with a number of commonly-administered vaccines or vaccine components other than pertussis and rubella. The review: (1) summarized relevant medical and scientific literature on the risks to children, including permanent residua and/or death, associated with the currently U.S. licensed vaccines containing tetanus, diphtheria, measles, mumps, Hemophilus influenza b, hepatitis B, and poliomyelitis (both oral and inactivated vaccines) vaccine components; and (2) considered the available data on the circumstances under which administration of these vaccines increases the risks of certain serious or chronic adverse reactions, and the definition of any known risk groups and timing for these events.
