Development of a Database for Advanced Processes to Remove Carbon Dioxide from Subquality Natural Gas. Topical Report, September 1989-May 1992

Recent data suggest that future lower-48 gas reservoir discoveries will be smaller, produce lower quality gas, and will be more remote than existing fields. This suggests that smaller scale processing plants, including single-well installations, may be critical in the development of these new gas reservoirs. Recent scientific and engineering advances have brought polymeric membrane separation technology to the point where it may be utilized in the application. The operation of a skid-mounted, spiral-wound membrane unit was monitored for a period of 20 months. After the initial operating period, the well was producing gas at a flow rate of 250 MSCF/d at a pressure of 390 psig.
