摘要

Archaeological collections recovered from Department of Defense (DoD) installations are a significant and non-renewable resource. These valuable prehistoric and historic archaeological collections never receive the funding priority that ensures the professional care necessary for their long-term preservation. The result has been a steady deterioration of these resources in the attics, basements, and storage closets of most Department of Defense (DoD) installations and in countless substandard storage facilities, where many collections are being curated without proper compensation for museums and universities.
