The public use data tape from the Survey of American Indians and Alaska Natives(SAIAN) of the 1987 National Medical Expenditure Survey (NMES) contains information and related documentation on the use of ambulatory medical services during 1987 by the civilian noninstitutionalized population living on or near Federally recognized reservations or in Alaska and eligible for services provided or supported by the Indian Health Service (IHS). File documentation includes a description of NMES, programming information, a codebook, the data collection instruments, and information on weights and variance estimation.
