Community Based Care: Options under Medicaid

This report presents information on how community based services may be covered under Medicaid. The term 'community based services' refers to services that will enable an individual to remain in his or her community. States have considerable flexibility under Medicaid to make a wide range of community based care available. The report is intended to be illustrative of the types of community based care that States may make available under Medicaid. The information is summarized in a five page matrix. On a Medicaid benefit by benefit basis, the matrix indicates the type of services that can be made available and what restrictions, if any, apply. Additional Medicaid coverage information is included in the Attachment and Definition sections of this report.
