Turkey: Informatics and Economic Modernization

摘要

During the 1980s, Turkey laid the foundation for its transition to an information-based economy (IBE). Nevertheless, when compared to peer-group countries that targeted informatics as a catalyst for economic modernization, Turkey has not yet adequately developed the resource endowment for an IBE. The central message of the Report is that Turkey has the potential to become an active player in the informatics revolution and an information hub in the global economy. Realizing this potential will require a long-term partnership between enlightened government policy and private entrepreneurship.
