Appropriateness of Spinal Manipulation for Low-Back Pain: Indications and Ratingsby a Multidisciplinary Expert Panel

The report presents results from one part of the RAND Appropriateness of SpinalManipulation for Low-Back-Pain Study. The study is designed to ascertain the clinical criteria for the appropriate use of spinal manipulation for low-back pain from chiropractors and medical specialists. The report describes the methods used for assessing the appropriateness of spinal manipulation by a multidisciplinary panel of back-pain experts, and presents the panel's actual ratings of 1,550 indications for the use of spinal manipulation for low-back pain.
