This report recommends methods of sampling emissions for domestic storage waterheaters. This report is the first in a series of supplements to GRI-93/0337 (Volume I), which provides general background information on appliance emission testing, sampling and analysis, and documentation and reporting. This report (Volume II.1) describes the recommended setup and operational procedures for emissions testing of storage-type water heaters with draft hoods. Issues of concern that are addressed in the report include the factors likely to influence emission testing results, including appliance operational sequence, measurement timing, sampling location, water temperature, and ambient conditions. Appliance preparation and operation, and emission calculations are also discussed in detail.
