摘要

The Chemical Evaluation Search and Retrieval System (CESARS) is a part of the ongoing cooperative effort to regulate toxic chemicals in the environment. The full CESARS database contains 779 records with information on chemicals of environmental concern. Data is collected on physical-chemical properties, acute and chronic toxicity to humans, experimental animals, plants and aquatic life and environmental fate processes. A short summary containing key information on the experimental design and results is presented for most studies. CESARS is divided into 23 topic areas. Topics available for a chemical are listed at the beginning of the record. Explanatory tables for abbreviations used in CESARS records, as well as explanations of the Ontario Ministry of the Environment's Scoring Summary (Topic Area 22) are provided.
