摘要

During the summer of 1990, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) conducted a major monitoring study in Atlanta, Georgia, addressing the measurement of ozone and its precursors. The study was undertaken to obtain an information base to support the development and implementation of improved strategies for reducing ozone in U.S. cities that are out of compliance with EPA's National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) for ozone. The primary objective of the study was to collect a comprehensive data base of ambient concentrations of ozone and ozone precursors during the summer ozone season at six sites distributed across the Atlanta metropolitan area. A report describing the details of the experiment and summarizing the resulting data base is available. The data base containing more than 300,000 hourly measurements of the 60 parameters addressed is also available on a 3.5 inch disk. The lecture provides an overview of the study, focusing on its objectives and its experimental design with a limited discussion on results and interpretation.
