Growing Old in Our Neighborhoods: A Public Education Program for CommunityResponse

The program was designed to disseminate information at the national and communitylevels to professional, trade and voluntary associations, religious groups and trade unions whose members, through their professional lives or voluntary interests, interact with older persons in our society. The project's goals were focused on sensitizing the leaders of and members of these national organizations to the process of aging, challenging negative attitudes, disseminating information about the impact of changing demographics on social policy and practice, and encouraging concrete changes on the community level to assist older persons with their needs and aspirations to live lives of dignity and autonomy.
