摘要

FTIR and FT Raman spectroscopic measurements have been shown to provide animportant new technique for the study of the formation, kinetics and inhibition of gas hydrates. Important advantages of these methods are (1) being non-invasive, they enable in-situ studies of changes, (2) they provide detailed information about H-bonding and complexing, and (3) it is easy to follow rate processes by following changes in specific peaks. Such measurements have been made for ethane, propane over the range 270-298 K for pressures up to 3.1 MPs. Inhibitors and promoters studied were ethanol, ethylene glycol, butanone and acetone. In addition, extensive measurements have been made for methanol-water mixtures in the absence of gases.
