The book was originally published in 1912 as Die Cephalopoden der Plankton-Expedition. This monographic review of oegopsid Cephalopoda by Pfeffer is an attempt to systematically present every aspect of the Oegopsida. The systematics is based on relevant external and internal morphological features though, by the author's own admission, not always fully conforming to this requirement.
