Part III of the four-series reports of the Midwest Archeological Center'sOccasional Studies in Anthropology summarizes the analysis of various classes of material remains recovered during the research program, mainly the pottery, lithics, modified and unmodified fauna, and Euroamerican trade goods. It contains a comparative analyses of ceramic collections from sites in the KNRI which has its three goals, to develop a working cultural chronology, to identify ceramic variables and attributes in the regional collections and then to explore hypotheses that can provide explanations for such change and lastly to compare Mandan and Hidatsa ceramic assemblages on both historic and prehistoric time levels.
