Evaluation of Benefits from Habitat Improvement and Sucker Removal on the TroutCarrying Capacity of Knapp Creek

Studies to determine the benefits of habitat improvement projects on standingstocks of trout underestimate such benefits due to increased angler use and harvest following the improvement projects. The current study was designed to evaluate a trout habitat improvement project on a privately owned reach of Knapp Creek, a predominantly wild brook trout stream in Polk County, Wisconsin, where only catch-and-release angling with artificial lures is practiced and standing stocks of trout are unaltered by harvest.
