摘要

Initially, the research effort described in this report was designed to comparethe fishery resources found in three latitudinally separated Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) reservoirs using hydroacoustic technology. The purpose was to provide a basis for predicting some of the changes that might occur as reservoirs warm and to also develop hydroacoustic capability within Reclamation. The objectives of the study were then modified from presenting specific reservoir scenarios to a review of the range and likelihood of the potential impacts of climatic warming and to a determination of how to best monitor changes in fishery communities. The case study presented in chapter IV and the one in chapter V illustrate the use of hydroacoustic echo-sounding systems to monitor fish distributions, densities, and relative size. A rather inexpensive single-beam echosounder was used in both studies, and the Las Vegas Bay study also used a dual-beam system.
