Rheological Measurement Methods for Fibre Filled Plastics.

A review is presented of various rheological measurement methods that are suitable for characterizing the flow behavior of fiber filled plastics. The advantages and disadvantages of the various methods are discussed. Variation in the fiber content of a material has the greatest effect on its extensional flow behavior rather than on its shear flow behavior. Methods for characterizing extensional flow behavior of fiber filled plastics are also examined. Applications for rheological data include the simulation of injection and compression molding, resin transfer molding and for cure monitoring. (Copyright (c) Crown Copyright 1994.)
