Review of Computer Process Simulation in Industrial Pollution Prevention

The objective of the report is to provide environmental professionals with anunderstanding of the power and utility of state-of-the-art process simulation software for industrial pollution prevention (P2) analysis. To better understand the issues that are discussed, background information is first provided on process simulation, including historical development, current applications, and current research. Also, to better understand the features of state-of-the-art process simulators, a review is provided on several commercially-available simulation software packages. A case study is then performed using one of the simulators reviewed, in order to demonstrate the P2 analysis capabilities of existing process simulators.
