Validation of Relationships between Specification Properties and Performance

This report summarizes the two-stage validation of the proposed binder and mixspecifications and tests. Stage 1 addresses the validation of the specifications and tests with laboratory data; Stage 2, with field performance data. The report is divided into four chapters, the first of which outlines the validation process. Chapters 2 and 3 are devoted to Stage 1 and 2 validation, respectively, and include a comprehensive discussion of the laboratory testing undertaken to evaluate asphalt concrete performance in terms of permanent deformation, fatigue cracking and low-temperature cracking.
