Volume 5: A Framework for Sustainable-Ecosystem Management. Eastside ForestEcosystem Health Assessment

摘要

The principles for sustainable-ecosystem management are derived by integratingfundamental societal, and scientific premises, ecosystem science is applied in the design of a system of management focused on building overlap between what people collectively want and what is ecologically possible. The authors conclude that management must incorporate more science and social processes in the system--to better inform decisions and to learn by 'managing as an experiment.' A management model is proposed that laces together societal values and ecological capacity.
