Calorimetric Methods for Loss Measurements of Small Cage Induction Motors

The report deals with the possibility of making more accurate power lossmeasurements of induction machines by the use of calorimetric methods. A brief summary of the losses in cage induction machines points out the complexity of the loss composition. The input-output method and the differential method are described in detail. The basic idea of calorimetric measurements of an electrical machine is presented and different methods, measuring equipment and measuring problematics are described. A detailed description of the balance method shows that it is the most convenient way of handling the problem, and a construction of a balance calorimeter for the 37 kW motor is made.
