Geophysics is the science which occupies itself with the study of naturallyoccurring phenomena of the earth. Exploration geophysics is that part of geophysics that occupies itself with the application of geophysical methods to the discovery and evaluation of resources which may be exploited for the benefit of mankind, or in other words, resources of economic value. Such resources include oil, gas, metallic minerals, coal and groundwater, all of which are of vital importance to modern society.
