Ground Rubber Use in Asphalt Paving Mixtures: A Design and Performance Evaluation

The main objectives of the study were: (1) To design the conventional and rubbermixtures using the Gyratory Testing Machine and the Marshall design methods; both surface and base course mixtures were considered. (2) To determine the mechanistic properties of the conventional and rubberized mixtures at their respective optimum asphalt contents. (3) To input the mechanistic parameters into a performance prediction model to compare the performance of the conventional and rubberized mixtures. An economic analysis was also performed and used to compare the mixtures.
