Industrial Structures and the Development of Small and Medium EnterpriseLinkages. Examples from East Asia

The chapters in this volume analyze the importance of SME development--in thecontext of interfirm linkages and demonstrate how recent changes in industrial structure are providing opportunities for this type of development in four East Asian countries (Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand). The bulk of this volume (chapters 2-5) will describe the efforts being made by each of the four countries to develop greater interfirm linkages and analyze the relative success of their efforts.
