摘要

The objective of this research was to develop accurate design charts forreinforced concrete and corrugated metal pipe culverts with Type I and Type III end sections. In order to achieve this objective, hydraulic studies were performed to develop inlet-control rating curves for all Type I and Type III end sections used by KDOT and to determine the entrance-loss coefficients for full flow through these and sections. Also as part of the study, the affects of debris on the hydraulic performance of the end sections and possible improvements to the design were reviewed. Hydraulic models of culverts with Type I and Type III end sections were developed and tested in the hydraulics laboratory at the University of Kansas. The Froude scaling law was used to translate the model results to prototype scale.
