Research performed for the purpose of evaluating chemically augmented biologicaltreatment (integrated Chemical-Biological Treatment) of manufactured gas plant (MGP) soils contaminated with polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) is reported. The mechanism for enhancing biological treatment of soils was the addition of Fenton's reagent. The treatability study showed that biological treatment was effective for the soil. After the successful laboratory results, summarized in this report, full-scale demonstration of the technology was recommended. The construction, operation, and results of the first year of this field-scale program are described.
