Compatibility Relations and the Finite Element Modeling of Time-DomainElectromagnetic Field Problems

For avoiding spurious solutions in a finite element solution of anelectromagnetic field problem, the method used must take into account the electromagnetic compatibility relations. In the present paper a description is given of how the different compatibility relations can be incorporated in a finite element formulation of time-domain electromagnetic field problems and how the method to do this is related to the problem at hand.
