Targeting Eldercare Program Resources to Low Income Latino Elderly: A ManagementTraining Program

This was a training project to increase the number of Latino gerontologists inadministrative positions in agencies that are part of the aging network. The project consisted of the recruitment and selection of six trainees to carry out a twelve month internship in the Office of the Director of a host agency. The agency was to take an active role in assisting the trainee in finding employment upon completion of the internship and/or retain the trainee in an entry administrative position within. In addition to the training program in the host agency, the project included a mentor program, focus on networking, and an educational enrichment component. All of the trainees were referred by either a chapter, an affiliate, or a member of the National Hispanic Council on Aging (NHCoA).
