The report serves to fulfill the Treasury's responsibilities under section 8(a)of the Market Reform Act of 1990 to report to Congress annually on developments in intermarket coordination. The report is organized as follows: risk management and capital adequacy at regulated firms; accounting and diclosure improvements; enhancements to the systems for payment and settlement of financial transactions; exchange-traded instruments and over-the-counter financial derivatives; and government securities.
