Community Based Eldercare Advocacy Program for Hispanic Populations. Promoviendo el Cuidado del Envejeciente, Asi Como una Vida Sana y Buena para Ellos (Promoting Eldercare as Well as a Good and Healthy Life)

This twenty-one month project was designed as a public awareness and community organizing Eldercare effort to address the home and community-based care needs of older Latinos at risk. The specific objectives of the project were: (1) To design a public relations campaign utilizing Hispanic media and conducted by elderly volunteers; (2) To sponsor local community forums in each of the project sites for Latino and non-Latino organizations for the purpose of promoting the development of local eldercare agendas; and (3) To increase the capacity of the National Hispanic Council on Aging's (NHCoA's) network to address Latino eldercare issues through coalition building, networking activities, and involvement of the elderly's immediate family.
