Effect of Rhenium and Cerium on the Properties and Structure in Hardmetals.

摘要

The effect of Rhenium (Re) and Cerium (Ce) on the properties and structure in hardmetals was investigated by x-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) observation. Re and Ce formed continuous solid solution that produced solid solution strengthening, thus improve the high temperature hardness of hardmetal efficiently. TEM observation and selected area electron diffraction analysis showed that Ce2S3 particles existed in the binder phase with the addition of Ce, so it can be confirmed that the mechanism of improving mechanical properties of alloy by adding rare earths is mainly refered to eliminate harmful effect of original empurities.
