Decision Support Systems Application in Urban Transit Systems Management. Volume1

The Florida DOT list of transit objectives and measures of effectiveness werecombined, with suggested objectives and measures from the literature and case studies, to develop a comprehensive set. A generic decision situation, defined to include a goal, these set of objectives and sub-objectives, and a set of alternatives, was structured in a hierarchy with the goal at the top and the set of alternatives at the bottom. Expert Choice (EC), a decision support system software package, was adopted for analyzing and choosing between alternative courses of action in a transit decision situation. The EC software, as applied in this project, presents a very flexible and powerful tool for the analysis of transit decision situations and for prioritizing alternative courses of action developed to meet transit goals and objectives.
