Pollution Prevention Implementation in Developing Countries

The document provides practical information and guidance to U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) personnel who implement programs that have an environmental goal in general and a pollution prevention objective in particular. It presents a practical approach to fine-tuning and fast-tracking pollution prevention programs to meet the needs and constraints of individual countries. The report provides examples of pollution prevention activities in four areas appropriate to USAID assistance programs: technical assistance; policy assistance; government information systems; and training and education. Case studies applying the 2-step approach to Egypt, Poland, Mexico, and Thailand are also offered.
