This report provides a detailed review of the chemical and physical properties of Group V fuel oils, an analysis of the resources at risk that may result from spills of this type of oil, and a review of potential response considerations when dealing with spills. Case histories of spills of Group V fuel oils are also provided as examples of the diverse issues associated with an oil product of this nature. Although the emphasis of this report is on Group V fuel oils, the results may be applicable to crude oils with an API less than 10DG.
