Cultural Resource Assessment of Reese Air Force Base, Lubbock County, and TerryCounty Auxiliary Airfield, Texas

An assessment of cultural resources was conducted for Reese Air Force Basebetween June 13-17, 1994. The assessment was part of baseline archeological survey requested by the Base Cultural Resource Manager in the Environmental Section of the Base Civil Engineering Squadron. The assessment included an archeological reconnaissance survey of Reese Air Force Base and Terry County Auxilliary Airfield. The Base contains 998 hectares (2467 acres) which were inspected during the assessment. One potential archeological resource was identified. The main base has a moderate to high potential for additional archeological resources in the areas surrounding the playas. The remainder of the Base has either an extremely low potential for intact archeological resource or has been heavily disturbed by construction activities since the initial development of the base in 1941.
