In FY 1985, the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) began developing andinstalling an integrated information processing network called the DCAA Integrated Information System (DIIS), to support word processing, data processing and telecommunications for approximately 170 field audit offices, six regional offices, and the Agency Headquarters. DCAA now refers to DIIS as Information Technology (IT), which is a name change only, to better reflect the evolution of the system. Key aspects of the FY 95 budget include funds for replacing obsolete Automated Data Processing (ADP) equipment (which will need to be excised), combined with significant software upgrades for the new local area network (LAN). Although workyear levels are decreasing in general, the reduction between FY 94 and FY 95 is not significant enough to impact the IT budget at this time.
