The paper discusses the importances of teaching process design using the'integrated (System) approach' rather than the 'unit operation' approach, at the undergraduate level. This is more important today than it was in the past decade, considering the need to reduce industrial pollution at the source, because it makes economic sense and because of the potential risk to human health and the environment.
