Multinationals and the U.S. Technology Base. Final Report of the MultinationalsProject

The report provides findings, analysis, data, and policy options in three broadareas of multinational business: the location of technology development by multinational enterprises (MNEs); the linkage between foreign economic policy and domestic technology investment; and the influence of differing systems of MNE governance and finance on technology development across the Triad of advanced industrial nations. The report identifies the national interest in maintaining the U.S. technology base, and describes the contribution that multinational firms--both foreign and domestic--make to it.
