The Multifunctional Resource Center for Bilingual Education--University ofWisconsin-Madison (MRC) is one of sixteen (16) regional resource centers funded under contract with the U.S. Department of Education (ED), through funds provided by the Office of Bilingual Education and Minority Languages Affairs (OBEMLA). Its mission includes the following: To provide training and technical assistance to education personnel and parents participating in or preparing to participate in bilingual education programs or special alternative programs for LEP students; To base training and technical assistance services on research and developing practice which, when broadly construed, have implications for the education of LEP students; To provide national leadership in education technology for LEP students; To coordinate with others funded through the Bilingual Education Act and with those whose efforts, in research and practice, have an impact on the education of LEP students; and To incorporate the National Education Goals and strategies in training and technical assistance activities where appropriate. This is the MRC's second Annual Performance Report under its current contract.
