The method developed for measuring N-methylacetamide (MMAc) in the urine consisted of concentrating the urine to small volume by evaporation, extracting the concentrated urine with redistilled dichloromethane, passing the concentrated extract through alumina to remove interfering materials and Chen measuring the anide by gas chromatography. The recovery, by this procedure, of metabolite added to urine specimens averaged 85% for seven replicate samples containing 4 ppm MHnc. The details of the method are given at the end of this report.
