A series of diorganotin (IV) complexes of beta-diketones of general formulaR2SnL2 where R = CH3, C4H9, C6H5 and L = 1,3-diphynyl-1,3-propanedione, and 1-phenyl 1,3-butanedione (I-VI) have been prepared by reactions of diorganotin dichloride with the sodium salt of the respective ligands in the 1:2 molar ratio. All the compounds have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H, 13C and 119Sn NMR, mass, and 119Sn Mossbauer spectroscopy. The cytotoxicity, antifugal, antibacterial activity have been studied. In addition to this, the antitumour activity against various tumours have been studied and it has been found that dibutyltin derivative is highly active against different cancers. A series of organotin (IV) complexes of general formulae R3SnL(R = C6H5, C6H5CH2, C6H11, C4H9, CH3); and R2SnL3; (R = C6H5, C6H5CH2, C4H9, CH3); where L = 2-thionaphthalene have been synthesized. All of these have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H, 13C, 119Sn NMR, Mass, Mossbauer spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. The crystal data for four compounds have been found out. The biocidal activity and cytotoxicity of these complexes have been studied against various bacteria and fungi.
