摘要

Lakeside daisy (Hymenoxys herbaceal (E.L. Greene) Cusick = H. acaulis var.glabra) is a federally threatened (listed in 1988) and Ohio endangered species. It occurs naturally only in Ohio and Ontario and has been restored at three sites in Illinois. In Ohio, the species restricted to the Marblehead peninsula adjacent to Lake Erie in Ottawa County. Beginning in 1989, as a means of preserving as much genetic diversity as possible, both seeds and plants were collected from several areas within the unprotected Marblehead quarry and introduced to suitable habitat on Kelleys Island (Erie County). As of September 1994, nearly 1000 plants have been transplanted and thousands of seeds have been sown. All plants and seeded areas have been monitored annually since their introduction. This report summarizes the results of these efforts.
