The study found that the factors besides living in the target areas that wereassociated with respiratory symptoms and pulmonary functions include: use of a wood stove for heating, smoking exosure to wood or sawdust, and having an annual household income less than $20,000. Blood lead levels were higher in the target area than in the comparison area, but the difference was small and not clinically significant.
