Geometric Shock Initiation of Energetic Materials

摘要

This paper describes a method of analyzing shock wave initiation of energeticmaterials (EM) using the application of wave mechanics with principles derived from geometric optics. This approach is attractive in two ways: (1) the principles of shock wave mechanics can be derived from the science of geometric optics; and (2) when these principles are applied to shock wave initiation experimentation, the results have been consistently predictable. Wave mechanics as used in this paper is confined to the application of the principles of geometric optics to the shock waves of particles of matter.
